Looking at the current Matthews Steer practice in Essendon Fields House it's almost impossible to imagine that it began in a small East Keilor office more than 20 years ago.
A meeting of the minds between Ken Matthews, who was running a one-man practice from his garage, and Geoff Steer, who was working with Arthur Andersen at the time, resulted in the formation of the Matthews Steer partnership. This initial partnership quickly grew to a team of 5 and continued to expand as the client base grew and the range of services expanded.
Matthews Steer now boasts 4 partners and a team of over 30 staff. We're a living example of the success story; we built our business from scratch.
The Matthews Steer philosophy is based on a commitment to provide highly personalised service and a strong connection to the local community.
Both these elements have generated long term results, firstly in the loyalty we see in our clients, some of whom have been with Matthews Steer since it opened for business, and secondly in the reputation we have gained within the North West of Melbourne through our work with local businesses and our involvement in local events, charities and community organisations.
The culture at Matthews Steer has grown out of a commitment to professional excellence based on providing advice to clients that is simple, clear and honest. We maintain our culture through the employment of staff who understand and connect with our philosophy. As a result we have developed a team that is enthusiastic and involved which in turn creates a work environment that delivers personal job satisfaction and enjoyment; making planning days and social activities not-to-be-missed events.
