Helping Thankyou with Chapter One...
March 2016
This week, Ken Matthews, Catherine Duncan, and many other members of the Matthews Steer team are volunteering with Thankyou, helping them pack up copies of their book, Chapter One.
Co-founded by Flynn, aged 19, along with his then-girlfriend (now wife) Justine Flynn, and best mate Jarryd Burns, Thankyou, is a social movement dedicated to ending global poverty. Thankyou creates products including water, food and body products and gives 100% of the profits to the Thank You Charitable Trust which has distributed more than $3.7-million to life-changing food, water and health and sanitation programs around the world over seven years.
Written by Thankyou founder Daniel Flynn, Chapter One documents the first chapter of the Thankyou journey and shares what he – and Chapter One – have learned about making ideas and dreams a reality.
The Thankyou team is currently based in a warehouse in Essendon Fields where they are on a mission to sell, pack up and dispatch 80,000 copies of Chapter One before March 25. All this week Matthews Steer teammates will be giving up an hour of their time to work on the Chapter One production line.
Monday’s shift saw Matthews Steer CEO Ken Matthews and Catherine Duncan swoop in superhero style (they were also raising funds for Heart Kids’ Super Boss Day) to assist the effort.
100% of the profit of Chapter One will fund Chapter Two of Thank You – a baby range they hope will raise $20-million dollars over three years for women and children in developing nations where one mum dies every 90 seconds due to pregnancy and child birth and 2.9million babies don’t make it through their first month of life.
