Strategy, transformation and leadership specialist Anita Muller has been appointed to the Board of Directors at Matthews Steer Accountants and Advisors.
The Founder and Director of transformation accelerator, Running Tall, Muller works with CEOs, owners, equity partners, Boards and leadership teams – business builders – to help design the next generation of their company, maximise current performance, and transform their business and team to the new build.
Her work spans business strategy, transformation, and leadership across both individual and organisational success, enabling leaders to make sense of complex and challenging business scenarios, develop clear purpose and strategy, and to close the gap between aspiration and outcome through practical roadmaps and tactical execution.
Muller said she is impressed by the leadership role Matthews Steer is taking in the field of professional services in Melbourne’s North West during a period of disruption for business and industry.
“The age of the traditional corporate model has past,” says Muller. “There are many SMEs and business leaders who have had to wake up from auto pilot. We’re no longer in Kansas and traditional businesses are struggling to make the transition to the new digital economy.
“Matthews Steer is providing core professional services, but also playing an important networking, connector and industry building role in the Melbourne business community.”
Muller said she was attracted by the strength of Matthews Steer’s long-term commitment to Melbourne’s North West’s, through its partnership of organisations such as Melbourne’s North Food Group, which aims to grow food and beverage manufacturing in the region.
“Matthews Steer is talking the language of collaboration, they’re seeing it and they are evolving their model and way of thinking to work with businesses, educational institutions, and the Victorian Government, to play their part in wider change,” said Muller.
“Any business that speaks to a stronger sense of community is attractive to me and Matthews Steer has demonstrated a commitment to proactively supporting the success of their clients both today and in the future, while also promoting the success of their wider community.”
Muller praised the Matthews Steer team’s willingness to embrace transition within their own business, and their proactivity in capitalising on the opportunities presented by rapidly changing industry sectors.
“Matthews Steer is consciously transitioning from operating as a classic professional services model to one that plays a stronger role in partnering and enabling local business,” said Muller. “They’re thinking about the capability they need to build within the business, and they are challenging themselves internally to reexamine how they need to operate.”
Matthews Steer founding partner and Managing Director Ken Matthews said he is delighted to welcome Muller, who has contributed to guiding the growth and transformation of companies and organisations in intensely competitive industries including T2 Tea, Forever New, the Work Health Group, Swann Communications, Melbourne Airports, m3 Property Strategists, the Energy Efficiency Council (EEC), and RMIT, to Matthews Steer’s Board of Directors.
“Anita’s strategic acuity and sensitivity to the human dimensions of change will be welcome additions to the Matthews Steer Board,” said Matthews. “To continue to grow and evolve our business we need people who understand the trials and tribulations of recruiting and retaining people in professional services.
“Anita is enormously experienced in the fields of human resources and executive leadership, and her interpersonal skills and strategic thinking will be tremendous assets to our Board.
“She will also be a tremendous asset to the business as a mentor to the young professionals within our business, a great resource for our people, and for the growth and development of Matthews Steer’s capability as a whole.”
