Belinda Torr is Matthews Steer's Employee of the Year
Senior Accountant Belinda Torr is Matthews Steer’s Employee of the Year for 2019, selected by the executive team for her teamwork and values, and her dedication to her role, her clients and her colleagues during the 2018/19 financial year.
Presented at Matthews Steer’s annual Recognise Encourage Reward (RER) Awards on July 26, Employee of the Year is awarded to the team member who best contributes to and shapes the firm’s culture, demonstrates leadership potential, pursues best practice, and excels at relationship building during the financial year.
“Belinda embodies everything we take pride in at Matthews Steer,” said Managing Partner Ken Matthews. “She is a fantastic team leader with an inquisitive mind, and a well-organized and methodical approach to her work. She drives our social club, and lives the values and culture at Matthews Steer.
“We hold Belinda in extremely high regard. Her enthusiasm and dedication belies her age and, as a young professional, she’s has the world at her feet.”
Linda Inserra was awarded Matthews Steer’s2019 Contribution to Culture award.
Voted by the entire Matthews Steer team, the Contribution to Culture award recognises a teammate who conducts themselves in alliance with Matthews Steer’s Vision Mission Purpose and Values, understands the business’ vision for the future, is generous with their knowledge and coaching, and is a positive, innovative, passionate team player.
In presenting Linda with her award, Matthews Steer’s General Manager, Catherine Duncan, said workplace culture is the critical pulse that can make or break a business.
“Linda has wisdom beyond her years and always has an eye on others to see where she can lend a hand. She provides a a great example of how to focus on the big picture and not sweat the small stuff, and she is renowned around the office for her calming, can-do attitude.
“Linda has the secret sauce that makes every single one of us experience a better day, every day, and for someone who has only recently celebrated one year with the firm, it is an incredible achievement to have made such a massive impact and to have won this prestigious award.”
Jayden Hamer received Matthews Steer’s 2019 Most Significant Personal Growth award for his willingness to learn and accept responsibility and his progress towards achieving his career aspirations.
Associate Nidal Mazloum said: “Jayden is a star in the business. Nothing is ever too hard or too much trouble, and he is the first to put his hand up to assist others who need help.
“Jayden is one of the sharpest young accountants I have come across at Matthews Steer, and he will have a great career if he continues on his current path.”
The RER Awards was also an opportunity to celebrate the promotions – on June 28 – of Charith Mandadige and Damian James to partner.
Partner, Geoff Steer, said he was delighted to offer his full support for Damian and Charith’s promotions.
“Damian’s contribution to Matthews Steer has been enormous,” said Geoff. “His dedication to maintaining and sharing his technical edge is widely acknowledged through the firm and appreciated by his clients. Throughout his career with Matthews Steer he has brought a practical, no nonsense, perspective to everything he says and does. That perspective is valued throughout the firm and at executive level.
“I have always admired and supported Charith’s dedication to his career and his own personal, and professional, development. In this respect, there is no better role model for the team than Charith. I am constantly impressed by the level of thinking and analysis Charith brings to discussions about our business, and to our executive team.”
The RER Awards also recognized the promotions of Marc Naimo, Alan Khoury, and Anthony Seneca to Supervisor, and the promotions of Chris Galea and Kris Williams to Senior Accountant.
“All this year’s RER Award and promotion recipients embody Matthews Steer’s vision, mission, purpose and values,” said Ken. “All have made a significant impact over the past 12 months, and the course of their careers at the firm.
