Matthews appointed to FBA Board
Matthews Steer Accountants and Advisors Managing Partner, Ken Matthews, has been appointed as a non-executive director on the board of Family Business Australia (FBA).
A long-time champion of family and local businesses in Melbourne’s North West, Matthews has worked as a specialist accredited advisor with FBA for a number of years, and he says his appointment is a natural progression following more than 30 years helping family businesses navigate their journey and evolution.
“I’m very humbled to be appointed to the board of FBA,” said Matthews. “They’re specialists in family business, they understand how family businesses tick, and to be involved with the representative body of family businesses in Australia is a great honour.”
Representing more than 2000 members, FBA’s purpose is to help family businesses succeed through specialist family, business, and technical services.
Matthews said FBA plays a vital role in generating opportunities for families in business.
“Family-run businesses account for 70 per cent of all Australian businesses so, as one of Australia’s biggest employers, it’s imperative that we focus on supporting family businesses to grow and thrive, and critical that they have a voice in the community.
“FBA gives family businesses that voice through lobbying, advocacy, training and networking.“
Established more than 20 years ago, FBA assists family businesses to harness their unique competitive advantage, provides access to education, training for family-specific and general business development, and generates opportunities for families in businesses to learn and grow by networking and sharing with their peers.
“As an entrepreneur of 30 years standing myself, I am delighted to take this opportunity to play my part in promoting the interests of Australian family business, and to give something back to the community that has supported me in my own entrepreneurial journey,” said Matthews.
